Engaging Women in Civic Life
Organizations and individuals working to register women to vote, turn them out for elections, and engage them in contacting their elected officials.
- Asian American Women’s Political Initiative (AAWPI)
- Chinese Progressive Political Action (CPPA)
- Neighbor to Neighbor Massachusetts
- Neighbors United for a Better East Boston (NUBE)
AAWPI’s signature program is a State House internship, training and mentoring program for Asian-American college students and recent graduates, that seeks to engage young women in state government.
CPPA organizes Chinese women from the greater Boston area at the grassroots level in voicing issue demands and linking them to year-round civic action and voting.
Neighbor to Neighbor Massachusetts is a statewide organization that works to build the political power of low-income people, especially women of color. Through door-to-door outreach, they talk to women about the issues they care about and encourage them to engage in the political process by voting in elections and participating in legislative campaigns.
NUBE works to build a community with a strong emphasis on leadership development. NUBE works closely with members to engage in political discussions, campaign development, strategy, and skills development.
